Biography

Suleman is working as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science (LUMS) at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. He runs the department’s Computer Human Interaction and Social Experience Lab (CHISEL).He also offers his services as a (UX) design consultant and trainer. As an HCI researcher and practitioner, he loves to get stuck into learning about new ways of designing usable, beautiful, results-driven and commercially successful solutions.

Having studied computer science at RWTH Aachen, he quickly realized his passion was in understanding the symbiotic relationship between society and technology. His desire to know more about people and technology persuaded him to obtain a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng) degree in User System Interaction and PhD in Affective Human Computer Interaction.

Before joining LUMS, Suleman, as a researcher and a UX consultant, has worked on a number of scientific and commercial projects ranging from mobile applications and games to enterprise information systems. He has worked with companies like Philips and SAP and research institutes like TNO and Fraunhofer FIT. He also ran a mobile design studio as a co-founder.

He also worked as an Assistant Professor in ‘Human Aspects of Information Technology’ and ‘Data Journalism’ at the Tilburg University, the Netherlands. His recent research work focuses on human-computer interaction for development (HCI4D), assistive technologies, child-computer interaction, and HCI for emergencies.
